The main function of this medication is to treat mood or mental problems such as depression. Furthermore, Trytomer also helps in improving the mood as well as the feelings of well being, relieves one from tension and anxiety, and also aids in helping you sleep better, thus increasing your levels of energy. The Tryptomer tablets belong to tricyclic antidepressants class of medications, and achieve its function by working on the balance of some chemical substances that are present in our brain. These chemicals are called neurotransmitters.

Tryptomer tablets are available in four different strengths of 10mg, 25 mg, 50mg and also 75mg.

These medications can be consumed regardless of the intake of food. Health experts recommend the consumption of 25-75mg every day, but in divided dosages. However, one should use the lowest dose that has proven to be effective. Consult your doctor for this.

It is very important to note that Tryptomer tablets should not be taken in combination with drugs that prevent monoamine oxidase. These could lead to conditions such as high fever and convulsions. In severe cases, this could even lead to death. Amitriptyline should never be used in combination with epinephrine, since this could lead to a severe case of high blood pressure. Consumption of alcohol during the course of intake of this medication may block the antidepressant characteristic of amitriptyline, but can significantly increase the sedative effect of the medication. Tagamet, the common name used for Cimetidine is known to raise the blood levels of amitriptyline and also the side effects caused by it.
